The above might sound familiar because social feeds, magazine covers and newspapers are all covered in short term promises selling you a dream. Enticing you to submit your details to find out more, or to make a small financial transaction and receive the golden ticket in 1-2 business days.

Short term promises to solve long term problems – sounds too good to be true because it is.

The human body is in a constant state of detox, that is your livers role, and your liver has never been working harder than it is right now.

Those 10kg’s could have been gained over a 12-24 month period due to lifestyle factors that have not only taken a physical toll, but perhaps also a mental and emotional toll. Those two latter factors will take more than 28 days to resolve.

An individuals body could be in it’s current state due to 5-10 years of neglect, low activity levels, poor eating, poor sleep, high stress levels, and underlying psychological issues that are influencing the way that they treat themselves. 8 weeks of intense psychological work with a professional, may help them break through the underlying issues.

A persons life is much more than their body. It’s more than their health, more than how others view them based on the shape of their body. Career, relationships, financial position, spirituality and mentality are all other contributing factors. Someone who has completed a 3 month online course and gets majority of their information from google ‘research sessions’ is not in a position to provide all of the guidance required to turn someone’s life around.

There is a reason why ‘skinny teas’, ‘juice cleanses’ and ‘fat burners’ no longer exist. It is unfortunate that it took a lot of disappointed consumers to figure out why.

One of the rising issues I see in the fitness industry is people prioritising getting ‘a good deal’, instead of searching for training that is designed to achieve the results they are after.

In the last 3 years, consumers have been flooded with options. Pay a monthly subscription and have access to a long list of studios where you can train X amount of times each month. This not only creates inconsistent training habits by restricting the client, but it also doesn’t allow the consumer to improve in any of the particular training styles.

Then there are the 7 and 14 day free passes, that if done strategically enough could allow someone to train for free for 6 to 12 months.

What both of these factors cause, whether in the short or long run, is frustrated people. Why? Because they’re are not seeing the progress or results that they have set out to achieve.

The health industry along with the media, are creating short term thinking towards long term issues.

One of our key priorities in the studio is to provide training to our clients that reflects their goal. That is why we go through an Initial Consultaton with our new clients to understand their goals, why they’re important to them and what they believe has previously prevented them in achieving them.

On a daily basis I am speaking with new clients who have become frustrated, demotivated and disenchanted towards their health, because of the short term ploys saturating the market. Your health should be something that you can enjoy, that motivates you and gives you the energy to take into the rest of your life.

Based on the information we gather, we can then provide a recommendation for one, or a combination of our 3 training formats at the frequency required to see results. Group Training, Small Group Training and Personal Training, each has it’s own specific set of results.

Group Training: This format focuses on creating a consistent training routine, building fitness and strength. It is the training style everyone should be doing because it conditions people for every day life. 

Small Group Training: This format focuses specifically on hypertrophy which is stimulating muscle growth and strength through specific weight training programs.

Personal Training: This format is used for people who prefer a more personalised experience in a 1 on 1 environment. It is also for people who may be new to the gym, or for people with a more performance based approach to their training through strength training. We also support people returning from injury, and getting new mum’s back in the gym after pregnancy.

Across the 3 training formats we can cater for anyone, at any age and at any stage of their health journey. We are also able to cater for progression within our training formats.

Don’t get me wrong, if your goal with training is simply to be active and to try new things without any particular goal, then training at different locations every day may be just the right thing for you. If however, you want consistency, support and results, then maybe it’s time to look into committing yourself to one facility.
