WORK/STUDY: I’m currently a Nanny, but I’ll be studying Health & PE in 2018.
YOU RECENTLY MADE THE MOVE TO MELBOURNE:
Yes, I moved to Melbourne at the beginning of this year as initially I was studying. However I deferred my course and decided to have a gap year; have a well earned break after a hectic 2016 and enjoy some time to invest in myself. It’s been bittersweet moving interstate from Tasmania- I miss my family and familiarity, but have become so independent and have really stepped out of my comfort zone.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MELBOURNE:
I think because it’s just a completely different vibe from Tasmania, especially growing up on a dairy farm. I Can’t get past the endless options for food though, my bank account hates me for it.
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT GRIPT:
My trainer back in Tassie was connected to Drew’s family, so he introduced me to GRIPT.
FIRST GRIPT EXPERIENCE:
I remember I was fairly nervous, I think I got here about half an hour early just to be safe. I’d been watching a heap of the videos posted onto instagram and just thinking ‘fark bridge, you’ve gotta keep up otherwise you’ll look like a twat’. I absolutely loved my first energize session, it was so hot and I was dripping with sweat. The partner I had turned out to be and absolute legend too and is now main squeeze in Melb..

HAT DOES YOUR WEEKLY ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?
At the moment its two Energize sessions on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday morning (dependent on work). Then 3 Volumize sessions two lower and an upper.
Plus on days off Ill do my fasted low intensity cardio of a morning.
WHY DO YOU TRAIN?
In the beginning, training for me was all about looks and I think it always will be. And I think a lot of people can resonate with that. But now, its also the release of endorphins and that feeling of being really strong. I love to set new goals, and training at gript has lead me to continue to smash them out. Reaping the rewards of hard work and determination is extremely satisfying for me..
WHAT RESULTS HAVE YOU SEEN?
Over the last six months, physically I have lost 9% body fat which is incredible for me. As I have always struggled with the stubborn fat issue. I thought I was strong before I trained at gript, but wowee. Never in a million years did I think I could push out 170kg on a leg press. So my strength has also increased immensely as well as my ability to deal with lactic acid built up. Now chasing that 200.
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
The atmosphere and the relationships I have formed with the trainers and other people. My enthusiasm for the place is unbelievable and I really am greatful for all the work that is put into our training. I love being pushed to my limits, and taking my body to new heights. Plus I like the music thats on during volumize haha.
IF YOU HAD ANY ADVICE FOR OTHER WOMEN OUT THERE?
Stop scrolling through social media and torturing yourself for not living a lifestyle someone else is living. What works for one, most likely wont work for another. So have faith in yourself, work hard, lift weights and get to gript. .
